With the support from the Cardiff & Vale Health Charity, we are developing a diverse portfolio of art and artists, unique creative spaces such as the Hearth Gallery and are brightening our hospitals’ wards with music and colour.

The Hearth Gallery is a unique exhibition space in the heart of Llandough Hospital. It is the first of its kind in Wales. We work with artists and groups to host a diverse and extensive programme of exciting exhibitions, which change every few weeks. We welcome all proposals and submissions for exhibition.

Improving Environments

Music to Our Ears

Of every art form, music is arguably the most universally loved, appreciated, and understood. Regardless of lyrics, the language of keys and chords resonates with us all. Cardiff and Vale UHB’s Music to our Ears programme is delivered with the support of organisations such as Music in Hospitals & Care, as well as the Welsh National Opera. We also work with local musicians and volunteers such as Harmoni Cymru, the Llandough Hospital Community Choir, and the Forget Me Not Chorus.

Dance and Movement

PHOTOS OF DANCE/MOVEMENT SESSION WITH RUBICON

The dance and movement programme offered by the UHB is diverse, entertaining and inclusive. By working with partner organisations, we are able to commission performers and sessions leaders who engage with our patients, encouraging them to move more and maintain their muscle strength while in hospital. Studies suggest that it only takes 19 minutes of exercise a day while in hospital to improve mobility, improve recovery times and improve quality of life.

We are developing an innovative and ambitious new space at our University Hospital Llandough (UHL) site. As part of the project to improve our outdoor environment, we will be developing a complementary programme of outside art to furnish and decorate the orchard as well as the outdoor spaces across all of our sites.

Our Health Heritage

We work closely with our partners in St Fagan’s National History Museum, the Mushin Museum, and the Whitchurch Hospital Historical Society to accurately archive and present the history of healthcare in south Wales in an engaging and artistic way.
