Patient Poetry by Trevor Plenty

This week is Action for Brain Injury Week, and we are delighted to share a collection of poems written by Trevor Plenty, a former brain injury patient at Rookwood Hospital. Trevor’s poems documenting his journey from his youth in the Royal Air Force (RAF) through to his accident and recovery, whilst capturing his positive attitude throughout.

Portrait Opportunity for NHS Staff

Artist and Illustrator Amy Jackson is looking for NHS staff who would like their portrait drawn as part of an ongoing project. The portrait will be free of charge and the recipient will also receive a print of the finished portrait. A second print of your portrait will take part in Amy’s upcoming exhibition in the Plaza Exhibition Space at University Hospital Llandough from 29th June – 8th August 2021.

2020 Diary of Artist Nathan Wyburn

Artist and Patron, Nathan Wyburn releases his book 2020 Diary of Nathan Wyburn in collaboration with Cardiff & Vale Health Charity. Nathan is known for his ambitious portraits created using unusual materials such as soup and cheese. The visual diary displays how the Welsh artist used his Pop Culture art to document and reflect the times whilst boosting morale during the first 12 months of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Texting Games for Patients

The Arts for Health and Wellbeing Team are working on an exciting project to create a variety of games that patients can play whilst in hospital waiting areas.With many patients currently having to attend hospital appointments alone, these games will act as a positive and fun distraction for patients at a potentially daunting and tedious time.

William Dean Ford Poetry

Local Photographer Seeks to Reinvigorate the Community Support for the NHS and Key Workers with a New Symbol of Hope and Positivity

Photographer Conor Elliott, from Penarth is looking to inject a fresh approach to the support for the NHS and other key workers. Last year the rainbow proved a very successful way to show support and appreciation for the NHS. Now he feels that it is as important as ever to continue that support.
