We are delighted to present the Young Arts for Change exhibition, part of the Baring Foundation and Arts Council of Wales initiative, Arts and Minds.

The Arts for Health and Wellbeing Team at Cardiff & Vale Health Charity, Cardiff and Vale UHB were delighted to collaborate with 4 partners to deliver arts opportunities for participants across Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan as part of this exciting project.

The project ran from Autumn 2022, and culminates in a group exhibition and event at the Grange Pavilion on Friday 9th June, 4pm – 8pm.

Grange Pavilion Youth Forum

Since January 2023 a team of artists including, Louise Jensen, Sian Burns, and Joe Kelly (film-maker)  have been offering creative arts workshops and drop-in sessions to the Grange Pavilion Youth Forum. These have included mask making, painting with acrylics, experimental photography, filmmaking, creative writing and Batik. The work was designed to encourage discussion and creative exploration of the concerns of the young people, culminating in the work being showcased in the first Youth Arts Festival to be held in the Pavilion, June 2023

4Winds- Mental Health Resource

This arts project engaged participants in gently focussed artmaking activities aiming to promote the wellbeing of those involved through meaningful connection, and the exploration of mask making, acrylics and watercolour processes.

For many of the participants it was the first time for many years that they had done any artwork, and the opportunity to spend time in company, working in an inclusive and non-judgemental environment was a welcome tonic.

Breathe Creative

Over the past six months participants came together in weekly sessions to explore different topics and art forms e.g. creative writing, photography, animation, art and to practice mindfulness.

The sessions were strength based and very supportive, becoming an important part of the participant’s week and a positive focus in their lives.

The time spent together allowed the young women to look beyond their diagnosis, to build on their strengths and learn new coping mechanisms. Creating a booklet to help others also provided the group with a meaningful focus, an opportunity to celebrate their creative talents and to work as a team.

Action in Caerau & Ely: ACE Arts

Since the beginning of this year, Action in Caerau & Ely arts and youth teams, have been exploring creative ways to engage young people in arts activities, to support and stimulate positive wellbeing. Sessions took place both in Fitzalan High School; at our Dusty Forge art workshop in Ely. A series of art workshops that built on collage, drawing and mask making techniques aimed to encourage young participants to reflect on their individual self-identity, strengths and passions.

We would like to thank our partners:

Artists Louise Jensen and Sian Burns, filmmaker Joe Kelly, Clear the Fog, the Grange Pavilion and the Youth Forum

Artist Nicola Parsons and volunteers at Action in Caerau and Ely, Dusty Forge, The Youth Wellbeing Service staff members, CYPFHS CAVUHB, and staff and pupils at Fitzalan High School, Cardiff

Celfyddydau’r Ifanc dros Newid

Mae’n bleser gennym gyflwyno ein harddangosfa Celfyddydau’r Ifanc dros Newid, rhan o fenter Sefydliad Baring a Chyngor Celfyddydau Cymru, Celfyddyd a Chrebwyll.

Roedd Tîm y Celfyddydau ar gyfer Iechyd a Lles yn Elusen Iechyd Caerdydd a’r Fro, BIP Caerdydd a’r Fro yn falch iawn o gydweithio â 4 partner i ddarparu cyfleoedd celfyddydol i gyfranogwyr ledled Caerdydd a Bro Morgannwg fel rhan o’r prosiect cyffrous hwn.

Bu’r prosiect ar waith ers Hydref 2022, a daw i ben gyda’n harddangosfa grŵp a digwyddiad ym Mhafiliwn Grange, 9 Mehefin, 6:30 – 8:30pm.

Fforwm Ieuenctid Pafiliwn Grange

Ers Ionawr 2023 mae tîm o artistiaid gan gynnwys, Louise Jensen, Sian Burns, a Joe Kelly (gwneuthurwr ffilmiau) wedi bod yn cynnig gweithdai celfyddydau creadigol a sesiynau galw heibio i Fforwm Ieuenctid Pafiliwn Grange. Mae’r rhain wedi cynnwys gwneud masgiau, peintio ag acrylig, ffotograffiaeth arbrofol, gwneud ffilmiau, ysgrifennu creadigol a Batik. Cynlluniwyd y gwaith i annog trafodaeth ac archwiliad creadigol o bryderon y bobl ifanc, gan arwain at arddangos y gwaith yn yr Ŵyl Gelfyddydau Ieuenctid gyntaf i’w chynnal yn y Pafiliwn, Mehefin 2023.

4Winds – Adnodd Iechyd Meddwl

Roedd y prosiect celfyddydol hwn yn cynnwys cyfranogwyr mewn gweithgareddau creu celf â ffocws ysgafn gyda’r nod o hyrwyddo lles y rhai a gymerodd ran trwy gysylltiad ystyrlon, ac archwilio prosesau gwneud masgiau, acrylig a dyfrlliw.

I lawer o’r cyfranogwyr dyma’r tro cyntaf ers blynyddoedd lawer iddynt wneud unrhyw waith celf, ac roedd y cyfle i dreulio amser mewn cwmni, yn gweithio mewn amgylchedd cynhwysol ac anfeirniadol yn rhywbeth yr oedd mawr groeso iddo.

Anadlu’n Greadigol

Dros y chwe mis diwethaf daeth cyfranogwyr ynghyd mewn sesiynau wythnosol i archwilio gwahanol bynciau a ffurfiau celf e.e. ysgrifennu creadigol, ffotograffiaeth, animeiddio, celf ac i ymarfer ymwybyddiaeth ofalgar.

Roedd y sesiynau yn seiliedig ar gryfder ac yn gefnogol iawn, gan ddod yn rhan bwysig o wythnos y cyfranogwr ac yn ffocws cadarnhaol yn eu bywydau.

Roedd yr amser a dreuliwyd gyda’i gilydd yn caniatáu i’r menywod ifanc edrych y tu hwnt i’w diagnosis, adeiladu ar eu cryfderau a dysgu mecanweithiau ymdopi newydd. Roedd creu llyfryn i helpu eraill hefyd yn rhoi ffocws ystyrlon i’r grŵp, yn gyfle i ddathlu eu doniau creadigol ac i weithio fel tîm.

Cynhaliwyd y sesiynau yn Ysgol Uwchradd Fitzalan; ac yn ein gweithdy celf Dusty Forge yn Nhrelái. Cyfres o weithdai celf a adeiladodd ar dechnegau collage, lluniadu a gwneud masgiau gyda’r nod o annog y cyfranogwyr ifanc i fyfyrio ar eu hunaniaeth, eu cryfderau a’u hangerdd unigol.
