We are delighted to present the ‘Going Postal’ exhibition by Creative Community Libraries. Based in the Vale of Glamorgan, members of the local community connect through collaboratively creating a piece of art.
The Creative Community Libraries group was established on Facebook during the first pandemic lock-down. We set out to engage our volunteers and friends of the volunteer led libraries in the Vale of Glamorgan, on-line in the world of art with creativity as a means of taking our minds off the situation we found ourselves in and unlocking our individual creativity in the process.
This exhibition is a collection of work from a collaborative project we called ‘Going Postal’ as it was a variation on the concept of Mail Art.

The aim of the project was to engage people across the Vale of Glamorgan, focusing on the Volunteer led Libraries (although not exclusively), to Collaborate in the “real world” having met in the virtual world (Facebook).
Members of the group were partnered up to produce a piece of work each, which was then passed back and forth between them via their local Library, whereby they would add to the work until they reached a point they were both satisfied with.
The project sought to promote inclusiveness, non-judgmental creativity, but ultimately to have fun and in the process meet new people and form new friendships.

‘Going Postal’ – Arddangosfa gan y Llyfrgelloedd Cymunedol Creadigol

Mae’n bleser gennym gyflwyno’r arddangosfa ‘Going Postal’ gan y Llyfrgelloedd Cymunedol Creadigol. Wedi’i lleoli ym Mro Morgannwg, mae aelodau o’r gymuned leol yn cysylltu â’i gilydd trwy greu darn o waith gelf ar y cyd.
Sefydlwyd y grŵp Llyfrgelloedd Cymunedol Creadigol ar Facebook yn ystod cyfnod clo cyntaf y pandemig. Aethom ati i ymgysylltu â’n gwirfoddolwyr a chyfeillion y llyfrgelloedd dan arweiniad gwirfoddolwyr ym Mro Morgannwg, ar-lein ym myd celf, gyda chreadigrwydd yn ffordd o dynnu ein sylw oddi ar y sefyllfa yr oeddem ynddi a datgloi ein creadigrwydd unigol yn y broses.
Mae’r arddangosfa hon yn gasgliad o waith o brosiect cydweithredol a alwyd yn ‘Going Postal’ gan ei fod yn amrywiad ar y cysyniad o Gelf drwy’r Post.

Nod y prosiect oedd ymgysylltu â phobl ledled Bro Morgannwg, gan ganolbwyntio ar y Llyfrgelloedd dan arweiniad Gwirfoddolwyr (ond nid y rhain yn unig), i gydweithio yn y “byd go iawn” ar ôl cwrdd yn y byd rhithwir (Facebook).
Cafodd aelodau’r grŵp eu rhoi mewn partneriaid i gynhyrchu darn o waith, a oedd yna’n cael ei basio yn ôl ac ymlaen rhyngddynt trwy eu Llyfrgell leol, a byddent yn ychwanegu at y gwaith nes bod y ddau yn hapus ag ef.
Nod y prosiect oedd hyrwyddo cynhwysiant, creadigrwydd anfeirniadol, ond yn y pen draw i gael hwyl, cwrdd â phobl newydd a ffurfio cyfeillgarwch newydd wrth wneud hynny.
