We are delighted to welcome the A way of life that nurtures the senses: The closer you are the closer you are! exhibition by Francine Davies to the Plaza exhibition space, University Hospital Llandough. Francine’s work explores Welsh and international coastlines, commenting on her love of swimming in the sea and its positive benefits on health and wellbeing.

When not painting in my studio, along the South Wales, Heritage Coastline, I can be found, all year round, submerged in the sea researching my favourite subject.  This ongoing relationship with environment that uplifts and inspire is the catalyst for all my work.

My art strives to draw the viewer towards the beauty and energy of the natural world through detailed studies of textures, movement and perspective.  I have a particular love for the Heritage Coastline in the Vale of Glamorgan but commissions take me far and wide. For example, I have enjoyed researching West Wales, The Brecon Beacons, The Bwlch, North Wales and further afield in Iceland.  My Icelandic Series: A Window on Iceland was exhibited at the Icelandic Embassy in London in 2018-2019 and is available in book format.

In 2020 I opened a small gallery space in Ogmore-by-sea and have continued to study the local landscape throughout the pandemic seeking to use various social media platforms to share ideas and inspire creative thought and practice among the community.  I enjoy working with numerous charities to promote how powerful Art and the creative process can be in improving the quality of people’s lives.

Arddangosfa gan Francine Davies

Rydym yn falch iawn o groesawu’r arddangosfa A way of life that nurtures the senses: The closer you are the closer you are! gan Francine Davies i ofod arddangos y Plaza, Ysbyty Athrofaol Llandochau. Mae gwaith Francine yn archwilio arfordiroedd Cymru a rhyngwladol, gan gyfeirio at ei chariad at nofio yn y môr a’i fanteision cadarnhaol ar iechyd a lles.

Pan nad wyf yn paentio yn fy stiwdio, ar hyd Arfordir Treftadaeth De Cymru, gellir dod o hyd i mi, drwy gydol y flwyddyn, yn y môr yn ymchwilio i fy hoff bwnc.  Y berthynas barhaus hon â’r amgylchedd, sy’n codi fy nghalon ac yn fy ysbrydoli, yw’r catalydd ar gyfer fy holl waith.

Mae fy ngwaith yn ceisio tynnu’r gwyliwr tuag at harddwch ac egni’r byd naturiol trwy astudiaethau manwl o weadau, symudiad a phersbectif.  Mae gen i gariad arbennig at Arfordir Treftadaeth Bro Morgannwg ond mae fy nghomisiynau yn mynd â fi ymhellach hefyd. Er enghraifft, rwyf wedi mwynhau ymchwilio Gorllewin Cymru, Bannau Brycheiniog, Y Bwlch, Gogledd Cymru ac ymhellach i ffwrdd yng Ngwlad yr Iâ.  Fy Nghyfres ar Wlad yr Iâ: Arddangoswyd ‘A Window on Iceland’ yn Llysgenhadaeth Gwlad yr Iâ yn Llundain yn 2018-2019 ac mae ar gael ar ffurf llyfr.

Yn 2020 agorais oriel fach yn Aberogwr ac rwyf wedi parhau i astudio’r dirwedd leol trwy gydol y pandemig, gan geisio defnyddio llwyfannau cyfryngau cymdeithasol amrywiol i rannu syniadau ac ysbrydoli meddwl ac ymarfer creadigol ymhlith y gymuned.  Rwy’n mwynhau gweithio gyda nifer o elusennau i hyrwyddo pa mor bwerus y gall Celf a’r broses greadigol fod wrth wella ansawdd bywydau pobl.
