The Arts for Health and Wellbeing Team at Cardiff & Vale Health Charity are delighted to work with actor Daniel Buck, and pupils and staff at Tredegarville Primary School, Cardiff as part of our Arts Council of Wales funded project, Cardiff Royal Infirmary: People, Place, Future.
Daniel is delivering innovative creative writing, improvisation and role-playing workshops which are designed to improve oracy and writing skills through acting and storytelling. Daniel is joined by illustrator Holly Raddy, who is delivering drawing and illustration sessions, and photographer Lisa- Marie Mansfield who is capturing images for the school. The pupils are thoroughly enjoying the project, and we would like to thank the school staff members for their amazing support and enthusiasm too.

With additional funding from the Staff Lottery at Cardiff & Vale Health Charity, the students have created a book around their stories, which is available with an recommended doation of £3 to raise funds for the Arts for Health and Wellbeing Programme.

‘I just wanted to write to say a huge thank you to you, Daniel and Holly. The children have been presented with their own copy of the finished book today ( as have I!) as they are thrilled. I asked them what they thought when they saw the finished book and they said “dumbfounded” , “proud” and “excited”.
This project has enabled the children to see their work published: this will have a significant impact upon their self-esteem and future aspirations. I wasn’t sure what to expect but the outcome has surpassed my expectations.
Daniel worked so positively with the children throughout- he encouraged their creativity, raised their confidence and self-perception as writers and was truly invested in making this a child-led outcome. I have been impressed with how inclusive both the process and end product is: every child and their work has been valued. Holly’s contribution also really enhanced the process and outcome – the combination of the drawings by the children and her own illustrations has elevated the children’s drawings (in their eyes) and therefore will also support their self-esteem and wellbeing.
Such a great collaboration – we look forward to working with you again.’

Yr Actor, Daniel Buck, yn Cynnal Prosiect Creadigol gydag Ysgol Gynradd Tredegarville
Mae’n bleser gan Dîm y Celfyddydau ar gyfer Iechyd a Lles yn Elusen Iechyd Caerdydd a’r Fro weithio gyda’r actor Daniel Buck, a disgyblion a staff yn Ysgol Gynradd Tredegarville, Caerdydd yn rhan o brosiect a ariennir gan Gyngor Celfyddydau Cymru, Ysbyty Brenhinol Caerdydd: Pobl, Lle, Dyfodol.
Mae Daniel yn cyflwyno gweithdai ysgrifennu creadigol, byrfyfyr a chwarae rôl arloesol sydd wedi’u cynllunio i wella sgiliau llafar ac ysgrifennu trwy actio ac adrodd straeon. Mae Daniel yn cael cwmni’r darlunydd Holly Raddy, sy’n cyflwyno sesiynau lluniadu a darlunio, a’r ffotograffydd Lisa-Marie Mansfield sy’n tynnu lluniau ar gyfer yr ysgol. Mae’r disgyblion yn mwynhau’r prosiect yn fawr, a hoffem ddiolch i staff yr ysgol am eu cefnogaeth a’u brwdfrydedd anhygoel hefyd.

Gydag arian ychwanegol gan Loteri’r Staff yn Elusen Iechyd Caerdydd a’r Fro, mae’r myfyrwyr wedi creu llyfr yn seiliedig ar eu straeon, a fydd yn cael ei gyhoeddi’n fuan i godi arian ar gyfer y Rhaglen y Celfyddydau ar gyfer Iechyd a Lles.

‘Roeddwn i eisiau ysgrifennu i ddweud diolch enfawr i chi, Daniel a Holly. Mae’r plant wedi derbyn copi eu hunain o’r llyfr gorffenedig heddiw (fel ydw i!) ac maent wrth eu bodd. Gofynnais iddyn nhw beth oedden nhw’n ei feddwl pan welson nhw’r llyfr gorffenedig a dywedon nhw “wedi syfrdanu”, “balch” a “llawn cyffro”.
Mae’r prosiect hwn wedi galluogi’r plant i weld eu gwaith yn cael ei gyhoeddi: bydd hyn yn cael effaith sylweddol ar eu hunan-barch a’u dyheadau ar gyfer y dyfodol. Doeddwn i ddim yn siŵr beth i’w ddisgwyl ond mae’r canlyniad wedi rhagori ar fy nisgwyliadau.
Gweithiodd Daniel mor gadarnhaol gyda’r plant drwyddi draw – anogodd eu creadigrwydd, cododd eu hyder a’u hunan-ganfyddiad fel ysgrifenwyr ac roedd yn wirioneddol benderfynol o sicrhau canlyniad a arweiniwyd gan y plant. Mae pa mor gynhwysol yw’r broses a’r cynnyrch terfynol wedi creu argraff fawr arnaf: mae pob plentyn a’u gwaith wedi cael ei werthfawrogi. Fe wnaeth cyfraniad Holly hefyd wella’r broses a’r canlyniad — mae’r cyfuniad o’r darluniau gan y plant a’i darluniau hi ei hun wedi ychwanegu at ddarluniau’r plant (yn eu llygaid nhw) ac felly bydd hefyd yn cefnogi eu hunan-barch a’u lles.
Cydweithrediad gwych iawn — edrychwn ymlaen at weithio gyda chi eto.’
