Cardiff and Vale University Health Board and Cardiff & Vale Health Charity’s Arts for Health and Wellbeing programme is delighted to have the continued commitment from the Arts Council of Wales to provide funding for a third year for the one of the two existing Arts in Health Coordinators posts. The team is extremely grateful for the ongoing support for these posts, which are currently held by Alex Staples and Melanie Wotton.

This continued funding means that great progress can continue to be made in recognising the benefits of the creative arts to people’s physical health, mental health and overall sense of wellbeing in both community and hospital settings.
Simone Joslyn, Head of Arts and Health Charity at Cardiff and Vale UHB said, “We are extremely grateful to all of our contributors and funders for allowing us to continue working on our arts in health projects across Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan.
“I would like to say a special thank you to the Arts Council of Wales, who I know are working tirelessly to embed the Arts and Health agenda and conserve the arts sector in Wales.
Providing funding such as this, gives us the resources to ensure patients, staff, volunteers and visitors are able to experience the benefit the arts are able to provide whilst also ensuring we are treating people holistically and not just as a set of symptoms.”
