Cardiff and Vale Arts for Health and Wellbeing is delighted to receive a new piece of art by Artist Kevin Williams to be exhibited at the University Hospital of Wales.
Kevin has created ‘Embrace’ which is an oil painting on board. He was inspired during the Covid-19 pandemic, the ‘Black Lives Matter’ protests and the subsequent artistic, political and ethical responses to those protests, to produce an iconic piece that contributes a positive statement to the artistic record of 2020-2021.
The painting depicts two nurses who are supporting and consoling each other at a time of extreme pressure. It reveals some of the truths about the underlying issues of the time and presents the extreme ‘present’ danger that humans face, from forces beyond their control. It also states that, stripped down to bare-naked, self-evident ‘truth’; humans are all in this together.

Born in 1960, Kevin grew up in South Wales. At school he turned to art and in 1979 attended Birmingham School of Art as a Foundation student. From 1980 – 1983 he attended West Midlands College of Higher Education in Walsall achieving a degree in Visual Communications. In 2017, he decided to follow his real passion in life, painting and became a full-time artist.
Concentrating largely on oil painting and drawing in charcoal, Kevin has been working hard to develop his craft. He loves landscapes and portraiture and spends his time either producing artwork or selling his work online.
Kevin has a strong affinity for his home village of Taffs Well in South Wales and has made it the subject of much of his work. He has held two commercially successful exhibitions there since 2019.
