Rachel Hannah is a Cardiff-based artist and mum of three who has been professional since 2016. Her joyful meadow scenes are alive with colour and intriguing details which evoke a warm summer’s day spent in nature.
It is clear that Rachel takes inspiration from the natural world for her vibrant work. She says, “In the summer of 2016, I delved into meadow painting following a commission from a friend.
“I enjoyed the layering process and thick texture I used to create my almost 3D like meadows and I think they reflect my bright bubbly personality quite well. I have always enjoyed working with a wide colourful palette and enjoy the likes of Matisse and Pollock style wise and more recently the meadow artist Yvonne Coomber has definitely inspired me to create a more free style of painting.
“I am very passionate about my collection of work which is currently on display at University Hospital Llandough in the area outside the Hearth Gallery. They are a good example of my different composition of meadows I currently do.
“While my exhibition is on show, I will be there some days of the week mostly during the mornings to meet people that want to talk about my works or discuss commissions or just generally chat about art.”
