Textile artist, Haf Weighton has been involved with a few high profile projects for us.

Haf captures urban landscapes using stitch, print and paint. She has many years experience of teaching art in London and now works as a full time artist.

In 2016, Haf created a piece for Hafan y Coed, depicting the colourful new building.

In 2017, Haf was recruited to work for the Arts Council of Wales as a creative practitioner on a project at Pencoed Primary School. The work created through this project was exhibited at The Hearth Gallery, Llandough Hospital. That exhibition was opened by Futures Commissioner for Wales, Sophie Howe and Fiona Kinghorn, Cardiff andVale UHB’s Deputy Director of Public Health.

That project went on in 2018 to be exhibited for three months at the world famous, Saatchi Gallery in central London.

In 2018, Haf was also commissioned to create a stitched piece depicting Rookwood Hospital, Cardiff as part of its 100th Anniversary Celebrations. That piece was shortlisted for the Contemporary Embroidery of the Year Award at the Knitting & Stitching show, London.

 

Haf  is a fluent Welsh speakers and has been interviewed in Welsh at Llandough Hospital by Heno (S4C) and at The Saatchi for Prynhawn Da. She has also been interviewed discussing Rookwood on Radio Cymru and on BBC Cymru Fyw. She also had a piece exhibited on health board’s stand at Wales Millennium Centre during the 2018 National Eisteddfod in Cardiff Bay.

  1. We had a piece commisioned for us as a wedding gift by Haf. I can stare at it for ages looking at all the detail that has gone into it. Beautiful.
